    Explain this...

So can anyone else who knows something about guns explain to me why you would EVER have a gun loaded to clean it, much less have it loaded in your house?

Either he really hated her or he was a dumb ass for not checking to make sure it wasn't loaded.

    Besides the point...that's sad.

    It is sad.

I have shot a lot of guns and I can guarantee that there is no way I could clean a shotgun w/o noticing the RED shell in the chamber....I honestly don't know how you miss this.

Anyone who cleans a gun with a loaded chamber deserves the outcome.

Edit: Oh. I just read the story.

Any guy stupid enough to not check the chamber before cleaning a gun, and accidentally kills his wife, deserves to go to prison for life.

There is no reason to keep a gun loaded around the house. It's stupid and irresponsible.

The above illustrates why I'm for stricter gun control. I don't think the average man, or at least the slightly below average man, is competent enough to own a weapon.

Some folks love to point out how this crime or that could have been prevented if only someone had had a gun. How many more lives would be lost if idiots like that could strap heat to their hips and strut about town?

Man, the more I think about it, the more ridiculous the situation must have been. Shotguns are extremely deadly at close range, but close means CLOSE. How in the world did a 4 foot long firearm get pointed at someone, much less in their general direction? I just can't grasp how you could NOT know its loaded and how it was close enough/pointed at a person and killed them?

Illusional, you should come visit sometime, we could go shoot whistle pigs.

I don't think there's anything wrong with a loaded gun in a house as long as there are no kids. If there are kids it should be stored in a gun safe.

My dad had two loaded guns in the house but they were always kept in a safe and I almost never saw them. Only time I saw one was when we thought there was someone breaking into our house.

CB, if they were both inside a house that was close enough range to kill. Plus you don't know if the gun was loaded with shot or a slug.

I guess it depends on a lot of factors as to what range its deadly. It doesn't matter whether is was loaded with shot or a slug, it was still LOADED.

AJ, I can understand a loaded handgun, its the shotgun here that boggles me, lol.

Guns don't kill people. ****ing idiots kill people.

Rule #1: Don't clean your gun in the house.

I'm with Gribble. Gun laws should be much more strict. but then, you guys know I think there should be all kinds of laws against idiots owning guns, driving cars, breeding, etc.

I don't enjoy guns but I know how to fire a rifle. Its a tool that demands respect. The #1 rule for ANY gun is never, EVER point it at someone unless you plan to use it. Loaded or not, b/c of exactly this reason. Accidents happen. Idiot.

You were the one who pointed out that if they tightened gun laws, the law-abiding citizens would turn in their guns and the dangerous criminals would keep them, right?

That said, I think guns are stupid and unnecessary. I agree with Gribble - way more crimes would be prevented by taking guns away, than by providing more guns.
