My Brother Just Opened a Cross Fit Gym!

CrossFit maintains that proficiency is required in each of 10 fitness domains: cardiovascular/respiratory endurance, stamina, strength, flexibility, power, speed, agility, balance, coordination, and accuracy.[1] CrossFit says it increases work capacity and speed in these domains by provoking neurologic and hormonal adaptations across all metabolic pathways. The program's weightlifting component includes complex, compound movements with heavy loads. CrossFit also uses kettlebells, gymnastics rings, pull-up bars and many calisthenics exercises. CrossFit may call on athletes to run, row, climb ropes, jump up on boxes, flip giant tires, and carry odd objects. They can also bounce medicine balls against the floor or a target on a wall.

CrossFit workouts typically call for athletes to work hard and fast, often with no rest. Many CrossFit gyms use scoring and ranking systems, transforming workouts into sport. Many CrossFit athletes and trainers see themselves as part of a contrarian insurgent movement that questions conventional fitness wisdom.[2][3]

CrossFit adaptations include programs tailored for children, seniors, military special forces candidates, triathletes and martial artists. Most CrossFit gyms also offer "Boot Camp" or "Elements of CrossFit" introductory classes for beginners.
My brother loved this stuff, and I worked out with him while I was in Oklahoma.

He's wanted to open a gym since he was 16.

For the first time in my life, I actually want to go to OK.

    Haha.

I have 2 older sisters, 1 older brother, and 2 younger sisters.

I couldn't tell you where any of them are besides my brother.

Oh God, I hope it works out, Fras. Especially right now. Service industry things are the first things ppl let go of when times are tough.

I hope he has some reserve capital to live off of for a while.

For some reason I thought you were an only child, but I dont know why.

But I do wish him well with it and hope for the best of success.

Well, as long as they have more than their competitors, they should be fine.

On the other hand, I imagine lots of ppl might JOIN gyms right now as a way of burning off some stress. Anyway, good luck to him Fras. Get him a money tree for his business.

Sounds like a good idea, I dislike doing activities in gyms or sports centres because it's so damn monotone.

I agree completely...it used to drive me crazy. I just found it so boring. I prefer being outdoors.

I actually like the whole crossfit deal. You don't mosey from one exercise to the other, it's like a speed workout, and since you're so pressed for time, there's no to waste being self conscious (for those who get like that).
