    Trying to have a baby!!!

I am about 37 weeks pregnant....I am MISERABLE.......I'm sooo uncomfortable and just ready to get it going here.....my doctor said that the baby is growing really rapidly so they will for sure induce me by 39 weeks but does anyone know any tricks to start it at home??...I know the whole castor oil and sex and walking thing but I'm looking for something different...anyone got any ideas???

    Let nature take its course.

I remember the day my mom gave birth to my little sister. My step father was more uptight than she was; cussing and yelling and ordering her to get in the car. She was standing in front of the window enjoying a cigarette after her water broke. That was her 3rd child, lol.

I dunno ... maybe a home C-section? Come on, Sara ... do you honestly want to rely on voodoo techniques and old wives' tales to try to induce labor at a possible risk to yourself and your baby?

I can appreciate your growing tired of being pregnant but you have no option other than to let Mother Nature take her course with the possible assistance from expert physicians if necessary. Certainly not with amateur medical advice from us!!

Best of luck with your new baby and congratulations.

    Carl.

You aren't supposed to try to induce labor until you are at least 38 weeks.

There is a restaurant in Laurel Canyon (Los Angeles) that serves a salad that is supposed to induce labor.
Relax... I'll need some information first. Just the basic facts - can you show me where it hurts?

My son was a couple weeks overdue so I gave myself a couple of orgasms that stimulated uterine contractions. Just clitoral, don't go poking around down there. Anyway, that seemed to do the trick.

That, or he just decided at that point to get the hell out of there.

I'm not being ignorant, I spent 18 years of my life raising kids, i've had my fair share of time being a daddy figure during my years where I was spose to be a teenager, the thought of babies is now yuck.

    So yuck Nisha!

To be honest... babies are cute on occasion, but most of the time there's diaper changes, messy feedings, spitting up.. etc.

So yeah... little bit cute, but mostly yuck...

    I'm really torn about this.

I don't know if I ever want to have my own child.

Got fam/friends with little kids you can spend time with? That will give you a better idea.

FWIW, I didn't think much of the baby stage. It was okay, I enjoyed it in a maternal sense but its much like having a pet to look after. Things only got really interesting around age 4+. He started to have ideas & a personality. From then on its very fun.

I agree with Indi on this. People who claim to love babies are nuts, but kids are cool. My daughter is more awesome every day.

Anyway, take a hot bath, Mamma. Really hot.

    Here's my deal.

I believe, if you're going to have a child, have them earlier in life, so you can better enjoy them when they're older but before you become retired.

I only say this because my friend's family was awesome. She (accidentally) had him when she was 18, but got married, and had two more children. And they're all very close. They do things together, but they're not fanatical or anything. They were like the family I would have always wanted.

I'm sure the road wasn't easy, but I think with some hard work it would be worth it in the end.

But I like my independence and freedom, I like doing my own thing and not having to worry about another living being.

I guess that's just it. There's my answer.

Giga, I'm picking on you because you are the first to actually give a "practical" solution.

Boil the baby out in a hot bath??? puhleeseee

Sara ... I assume you want the baby so virtually every post to date is completely off topic!

Every one else ... what in the hell are you thinking???!!!
