I have HAD it with the internet and inappropriate behaviour

What is it with the prevalence of underhanded or just plain bad behaviour on the internet?

From this forum alone it seems like so much confusion occurs due to Facebook/Myspace/MSN emails, websites and blogs.

Why is it ok to profess your feelings for someone over the internet? Does it somehow make it better?

In case you are wondering what the impetus for my vent is I have had enough this year.

This year my ex boyfriend started a campaign of trying to win me back with emails, videos on You tube and messages on his website.
After I completely cut communication with him he started following me to forums and tracking my moves/information. I have a different log in name on LF which is why I can post on here.

THEN my current boyfriend has received an email from an ex girlfriend who lives in the States stating that she loves him and they are meant to be together. Arrrragh!
What gives her the right to do that? Just because it was an email it is ok? He is in a relationship with me..how is that right?

Now he has gone through this process of deleting her on Facebook etc (btw I despise Facebook but that’s for another thread).

Have you had anything like this happen to you? I think it is a growing epidemic.

Its just a sign of the times. Ppl will use whatever means available to get what they want. You can do the same, and I suggest you do so.

Nothing like this happened to me, but I guess it's an evolution. Our second life is becoming pretty important and reflective of who we are. It's best to becareful.

Avoid personal stuff via the web. By phone its okay. But face-to-face is always the best.

it's the ol' story dasein, people are chickens. they use phones, texting, emailing fb'ing, bebo'ing etc etc so that they say something and not have to face any consequences, buk buk bukaaaaa i say to all of them. if you can't face someone then you're not even worth listening to

boobaa i don't think anyone is disputing that the internet is fantastic and is the complete and perfect example of free speech and so i say let it live on forever, however it's people's courage and selfishness is what dasein is referring to when people use the internet in a way that is disturbing and shows how the disconnection of society enables people to chicken out and use the internet in selfish ways. thats life tho, humans are selfish and lots of them lack courage.

PS no-one's perfect, i broke up with my ex by text and msn. he deserved it tho and i really didn't want to see his face again
