I bet loosing in World War 2 had something to do with it

You're "loose" Mish. Losing may have had something to do with it

At least for Germany and Japan, because the Germans were actually stupid enough to follow Hitler and his racial superiority bullshit, and the Japanese were similarly dumb and crazy

The Italians didn't want to fight and they hated it. In my dads hometown, one of his relatives was killed because of Nazi resistance there. In retaliation, the Nazis would round up a bunch of people and kill every 10th or so person as punishment

But otherwise all 3 countries haven't fallen into the bullshit service sector economy the US has now

I'm assuming you are being sarcastic, DM? B/c Germany & Japan are both now officially in recession?

No I'm not being sarcastic at all. Who isn't in a recession right now?

For countries that have given so much up militarily they have large GDPs (yes, everytime I see GDP now I think guanosine diphosphate thanks to biochem), Japan and Germany being 2nd and 3rd only after the US. To have that without the military component but formerly having it is just.... it's just that

Its interesting to read you posting this stuff, esp after our previous arguments.

I found it interesting that China was able to put >500 billion into its own economic stimulus package without putting a dent into their surplus.

Yeah, that's because lucky China hasn't spent $1 trillion on a war to rebuild a country for the sake of the countries image when nobody is gonna give a shit anyways

Half of China lives in poverty as well, you'd think they would take care of themselves first if they weren't such nationalist assholes. And by themselves I mean the needs of their people

Yep to your first statement & yep to your second one also.

How (and with what) will the US help THEIR poor now, tho? Doubt many will argue that Iraq was a total mistake.

Think Obama will stick to his 18 month withdrawl now that Iraq is allowing for 3 more years of US troops?

Our poor? Are you nuts? People here think you are poor if you make $20k a year. That's fuccking crazy

Another key difference is that people here have all the opportunities to help themselves

At least you agree with me that our spending is bullshit. The entire world is laughing at us. They yell at us for being assholes and we try to rebuild a country to stop the trainwreck and it doesn't change opinion. Let Iraq and social security go fucck themselves

    God, I hope so.

I was in an official class debate about whether or not we should have gone to war in Iraq back in '03. I even remember that teache, Mr. Kuhn. I was against the "Iraqi Freedom" campaign from the start.

I wonder if my opponents switched to my stance.

Setting up a final deadline is good for the PR, but bad for the war.

At this point I feel like we should at least finish up since we've already come this far. Why the fucck can't these people handle themselves like every European country did after the World Wars? What the fucck is their problem?

If you read history, long drawn out wars NEVER lead to any good. They just drain the resources of the countries at war & increase the chance mistakes get made. If you must fight, you get in, win, get out. That's good military (and economic) strategy.
