    what are your thoughts

    Can you cry under water?

    Do fish ever get thirsty?

Why is it called a 'building' when it is already built?

If you try to fail and succeed, what have you done?

Doesn't expecting the unexpected make the unexpected expected?

Do you find it slightly scary that what doctors do is called 'practice'?

Why is toilet paper perforated the way it is? Does anyone ever use just one sheet?

well technically yes you can cry under water although wouldnt your tears just flow with the rest of the water?

i guess they wouldnt because if they did they wouldnt be alive because all the water they take in only gets the oxygen taken out of it and the rest diverted through their gills

i dunno that building one is very true, how come i never thought of that?

if you try to fail and succeed then you suck

yes expecting the unexpected means the unexpected is expected

    i guess practice makes perfect
Pain is just weakness leaving the body...

    Yes
    Do fish ever get thirsty?
Fish don't have a concious brain. They act on instinct, so: no
Why is it called a 'building' when it is already built?
    Not a clue...
If you try to fail and succeed, what have
    you done?

You have succeeded in failing. Therefore you succeeded

    Doesn't expecting the unexpected make
    the unexpected expected?

    Yup

Do you find it slightly scary that what doctors
    do is called 'practice'?

    Not in the least

Why is toilet paper perforated the way it is? Does anyone ever use just one sheet?
    Absorbtion of fluids?

*I tend to give slightly sarcastic answers to this sort of questions

Basically, because when the Western Germanic languages were standardized, nouns were invented by adding suffixes to some of the verb infinitives (eg. build+ing=building)

This is the same reason why there are various suffixes for adjectives, adverbs, etc.

If you look at other Germanic languages, you see similar suffixes, which is why we know English and German are so closely related (eg. the equivalent noun suffix for the English 'ing' in German, would be 'ung', for example "Vorlesung", which formed from vorlesen+ung=vorles(minus stem ending)ung)

Hope that clears up your confusion

Which German language are you talking about? English? Danish? Swedish? Norwegian? Swabish? Bavarian? Hessisch? Kölsch? Dutch? Frisian? High German? Low German? Flat German? Yiddish?

Some Germanic languages are very ugly sounding. Especially the American English.

ecojeanne, seriously? I guarantee I'm more valuable to mankind, however small my contribution may seem, than someone who makes useless threads asking questions a child would ask (i.e. you). So if I'm as worthless as a male nipple, then what does that make you?
