OH MY GOSH-DONT listen to the horror stories Killa-of course all youre going to hear is how painful shit it is-(just like the child birth). Geezuz I started to read about anterior tooth-and thought shit she needs a dentist who knows what the hell theyre doing. Matching anterior teeth can be difficult if youre seeing a dentist who DOESNT specialize in aesthetics. But theyre skill, experience, and the lab they use can get the results like you have now. Im glad you found someone who knew what they were doing.
NOW-your wisdom teeth-go to an ORAL SURGEON do NOT allow a general dentist to remove them. An oral surgeon will provide you with an option of putting to your sleep while they do their thing. If you allow a general dentist to extract your teeth(and Im not saying ALL general dentists-just most in general here) they dont perform those surgeries all day long-an oral surgeon does-youre in and youre out. Obvioulsy if youre put under for the 20 minutes or so youre not going to hear a damn thing. If you choose to go to a general dentist to have them done-bring with you a cd player-cuts down on the noises. OF course you are going to be in discomfort for a few days-this comes from the surgeon having your jaw stretched to the max for a length of time-the incisions dont hurt-you may or may not swell depending on how difficult it is to remove those wisdom teeth. Sounds like one of them might be a bitch. But a specialist can get that sucker out with ease. Also most horror stories you hear are because some peoples wisdom teeth dont ever break the skin, hence incisions and need to be "cut Out" this is where alot of swelling comes from-the surgeon have to manipulate the instruments to get at your wisdom teeth to remove them.
When you do have them removed Killa you NEED to pay attention to their directions in the care afterwards. Warm packs or ice packs, eating soft foods, no sucking through straws, or smoking, etc. Some people dont listen and then have dry sockets which hurts like the biggest bitch on earth. If you pull out the clot that has formed in the areas where your teeth were extracted it becomes dry-air gets to it and what not and omg the pain people have with that is unbearable.(i personally have never had one-but have to do deal with those who have). So follow their directions to the TEE! Take your pain meds by the TEE also-every 4-6 hours or whatever they give you for the pain...this allow the meds to stay in your body-of you dont take them and you wait til it hurts it becomes worse-hmmm let me think here. More than likely you will have sutures which is a good thing-actually you may want to ask if they will place them anyway-some dentists dont place sutures after an extraction, but having the area closed up allows for a little more freedom in the next few days of what you eat, AND not to mention the fact you wont get food caught in there which is the grossest thing-you would have to flush the area out for weeks til it closes up some and the smell is sick. (I know this from first hand experience it sucked) so ask for sutures.
Overall-I'd say and suggest to go to an oral surgeon for this-your wisdom teeth.
I know these things because I work for a dentist-and have worked for a general dentist who did it all...but the dentist I work with now (for the last 5 years) is TOP NOTCH in his field. Ive learned more from him than anyone I know-
goodluck to ya-oh the braces thingy-Honestly-as horrible as it sounds the old metal way to go is the BEST and MOST effective way of straightening teeth-as for the invisaline-no where near the effective as the old method...Invisaline (invisable) doesnt do the job as well and is a real pain in the ass-constantly having to take impressions man I cant even get into all the bs involved with it-but the metal plated braces are the best-its still a lot of visits initially and heres what I can tell you about this: getting your brackets placed, and the wires isnt nothing its when they change them out-you will be in some pain after those visits-because what theyre doing is over this time shifting and moving your teeth-and the wires are basically shortened-causing your teeth to move and in the direction your orthodontist wants them too-you wont want to eat for like 2 days after they change out the wires and stuff. So heres a helpful hint-take some motrin BEFORE those appointments-it will help alleviate some of the pain. Braces are absalutely no fun-Im giving it to you straight up-you could possibly lose brackets, lose wires, will be in pain on some of those visits-(i have YET to find someone who breezed through ortho without any complications or pain in the ass visits)...its a long process-were talking almost at minumum from a year and half to 2 years plus depending on the severity of the case. But you will notice results within the first few weeks of having braces. AMAZING-BUT this is using the old system-metal brackets. You can color them up with the rubber bands...its cool a lot of people will wear the colors of their favorite team(sports) or theyre favorite color- you can alternate the colors in your mouth as well which is cool-red and blue or whatever-its not that bad using the standard method...
Well thats all I can think of right now-but I wish you the best of luck and dont worry you will get through it! And look at how youre feeling now with your front tooth fixed? Happy! Imagine what a couple of years can do with braces-oh you said you dont whiten them either-tip here-if ever you do down the road want to whiten your teeth-go to the office and do it-the over the counter items arent as effective either-they dont have the higher amounts of concentrated bleach in them-takes alot longer and urgh just a pain-you can go to your dentist and have them take an impression of your teeth you get a soft plastic appliance that fits to your mouth and then you simply put some of the whitening gel they give you and presto do it for a couple of weeks and theyre white-plus you have that appliance for as long as you need if taken care...the in house bleaching with lazor doesnt work either-plenty of tests have shown the method i just mentioned is more effective.
Ok-hell give me something i know about and wham! Sorry its my field its my career!
Goodluck to ya gal!
everything happens for a reason...beginning to wonder why.
