Some herb called "salvia". It's supposed to be a minor hallucinogen that hasn't yet been made illegal.

Legislators are of course jumping on the drug band wagon.

I hadn't heard it referred to as a "minor" hallucinogen. In fact, I've heard it's rather powerful, although short-acting.

I don't have a problem with the legalization of any drug, but I do worry about dumbasses getting in the car and driving afterwards.

They should fine the hell out of anybody driving under the influence of any radically mind altering drug. That's why I find it ridiculous that alcohol, unlike most every other drug, is still legal.

The thing I'm thinking of isn't artificial. It comes from a plant. But I can't remember the name right now. It will come to me eventually. I'm not sure I have the name right. Mbe Vash will know what it is. Its sweeter than sugar, but comes from a plant & we can't metabolize it, but its natural.

Eventually, tho, someone will show it causes cancer or something.

I've heard that Moses comment more as a joke. How on earth would they have evidence for this? Is the plant growing on Mt Sinai or something? How would they know it isn't a recent planting?

I don't see why. If I was forced to tramp thru the desert after being kicked out of my home country, I'd probably take whatever drugs I could find too.

It must have been hard trying to manage that many ppl. A set of stone tablets with the 'word of god' to make the unruly masses behave sounds very sensible to me.

Meh, they take this all very seriously. I guess they find the idea that a religious patriarch may have been stoned is offensive... the only midrash that is acceptable is that written by the ultra-Orthodox.

BTW - the Israeli source said the masses may also have been high. I know *I* would have been, given the choice.
