    Point Counterpoint

Interesting to watch other people's choices. I have two colleagues who are unmarried and have no girlfriends. Yet, both want to have sex with women on occasion. One colleague goes to hookers. He claims that this is a "more honest" approach since it is just a economic relationship and nobody gets hurt.

The other colleague goes to bars and picks up one-night-stands. He claims that why pay big bucks when he can always find a nice looking woman who will sleep with him after the second drink...he says, that's a lot cheaper than going to a hooker and he laughs at my other colleague.

Both of them try to convince me that their way is the right way. I think that both forms of relationship are forms of prostitution...the second case being more common and "socially acceptable."

    What do you think?

Interesting. Personally, I think it's a little more fun to pick up girls than to pay them. I don't see how the latter is a form of prostitution - it's just two free adults having a good time.

Well maybe if they would just do what they're told for once. Like in the 50's.

I think that when prostitution is legalized, and taxed, and benefits are received when the worker needs to be off and they display a certificate demonstrating their monthly checkup as 'disease-free' THEN its an acceptable financial exchange.

But when you don't know whether the gal you are ****ing gets beaten up later, or is a drug addict carrying who-knows-what disease, then its a risk that I personally wouldn't take.

But I agree that one-night stands are more risky, for any number of reasons. Even a condom doesn't prevent all disease, and what you are screwing psychologically is anyone's guess. Bunny boiler, who knows?

Serial monogamy seems to be the best compromise until we change our societal attitude towards sex-trades.

regardless of which angle you're looking at this from, they both are paying for sex. one is the cheaper, yet easier way.. and the alternative is the cheaper, yet challenging way. you choose with road you want to follow.

I agree with the guy who pays the prostitute. It IS more honest, assuming he isn't interested in an actual relationship. Women in bars are usually looking for someone who will love them... They are just too dumb to know they won't get it from a guy they meet in a bar.
Relax... I'll need some information first. Just the basic facts - can you show me where it hurts?

Love is a word and the argument ends there.

This is kind of funny, because it was actually a friend of mine who gave me the idea of escorts. Looks like we hang out with the same type of people, eh CAM? (jk) Him and some of his amigos used to pay for sex. To be fair to him, he's ass-ugly, and would never stand a chance in a bar, even if the girl had a dozen drinks. Then again, they are some of the most shallow people you would ever know.

Personally I really want an actual relationship. But there's nothing wrong with paying for sex, as long as the girl is the one who keeps most of the money. In other words, if you pick up a street walker, I would consider that very wrong. She's probably feeding an addiction, listening to a pimp, and is abused on some level.

But if you find a decent escort agency or are referred to one by a friend (since you already have a friend into this type of thing it will be real easy), then you won't have to worry about the girl being treated bad. Lots of places advertise online now. Some you just need to know through other people. The escort agency itself will take a share of the money, of course. Just leave some big tips to make up for it. If I ever use an escort I would probably tip at least 50% for a one or two hour go.

Something else that is awesome about escort agencies is that you can have two girls over at once! That would be freaking amazing for my first time. That's kind of a specialized request though so you might need to do a little extra research beforehand

Actually, I was surprised that he goes to prostitutes because he is not "ass ugly." Actually, he's sort of a Frazier Crane type of a guy--brainy, while not ga-ga handsome...he's in fairly good condition, an ivy league degree, etc. Dresses to the nines, too.

Anyway, he even dresses up when he goes to the prostitute...he wants the whole mood to be just right and he respects the women he's with--at least that is what he tells me.

    Oh hardly, sweetheart.

Go look at the national opinion poll data--the most well liked group of people in the US are..."Women" I'm not kidding. This is an objective reality.

The positive rating of Men rate is somewhere below the old people and poor people...ranked like eight spots below "Women."

This "everyone hates women" mantra is pretty old beans. Just accept the fact that everyone loves you, everyone wants to be with you, everyone wants you to succeed.

And, apparently my colleagues love you so much they are willing to spend either big bucks for a fleeting orgasm or at least they'll buy you a diluted cocktail for a good lay LOL

    Love, Cameron

Sorry for three replies in a row...but haven't master the multiple quote reply as of yet!

This is an interesting take, Indi. One wonders if men view serial manogamy this way...you know, the whole "let's live together" routine that is very popular today.

From the male perspective, the female "live-in" is really then nothing more than a rational approach to having a consort. Perhaps that is why men who have live-in girlfriends are significantly more likely to support abortion rights (go look at the data, its out there) because she's a consort...not a permanent situation and he doesn't want to deal with her when he's done with her.

So, if we legalized and regulated prostitution, economically, the supply would increase (all the girls/women who want to get laid could also make a lot of money), demand would remain the same and prices would come down to a point where costs would be lower than having to put up with a live-in relationship. Everyone would win--guys would get laid; women would get paid and have a whole series of men they could meet and then choose which one is the basis of a "real relationship," etc.

And, regulated sex would mean that public health problems might decrease. The one night stand--women would be a little less likely to just "do it" if it meant disease and then the loss of a business license in the sex trade. And, they would be trained to look for signs of disease and avoid certain partners, etc.

You know, I could see this all happening and yet...one person said exactly what I agree with...ultimately, it should be about "love." At least, that's what I am waiting for
