How can I impress a girl I hardly know into liking me?

Theres this girl at school, I've had my eye on her for a few weeks.

We've talked once or twice before, for less than a couple of seconds.
She's exactly what I'm looking for and I'm starting to like her.
    But...
I don't have any classes with her. But I see her on a constant basis.
We hang out in the same crowd, but we are not really acquainted.(It's a big crowd)
What are some things I can do to attract her attention? Something that might get positive attention...(say... to get credits toward her liking me)
I want her attention at least long enough to see if we could have something together or not.

    Any tips would be great.

    yea, tips.

just be friendly and don't be desperate. things will go the way you want them to, just don't be overly serious.

Do something really nice for someone right in front of her. Somebody forgets their backpack on the bench- take it to them. Make sure she sees.

A compliment can go a long way..... If she is interested at all, you will definately get her attention.

Just don't give her a cheesy one. Keep it simple.

What about like notes in her locker or something of the secret admirer sort?

    Does that even work?

    Hi,

You can try to add some humour into your conversations. Girls, even women, like men/boys who are funny and can humour them!!! Try out jokes about yourself, jokes about things that happen to you, blah blah. Check out her reaction at the end. If she laughs, you have her!!

    Have fun!

I'm a little bit shy -- Well, I don't think I am, but people say that I am -- not just around girls but people in general.

But is there like a handicap for shy people?

i was shy throughout high school, but i became more outgoing, as i went to dances and went to musicals.

not only that, but when you get to know a girl personally, you are less shy around them.

Kindness is classic. Maybe I'm just a sap, but I've always really liked nice guys.

Well, it's ok to be shy. I was from a girls' school, and when I went to high school I got so uncomfortable. But deciding to step out gives one the power to do things. Of course you have to behave in a manner suitable for the other party, and not act like some caged desperado just let out of his cooped space.

Uhmm.... I hate to break it to you guys, but Giga's right. Do something nice in front of women and they'll let out a collective "aawwwwwwwh." I would hope that showing kindness toward others wouldn't make you a phony.

It's tough to be male and shy. Guys are expected to do all the courting. They're expected to be assertive and confident. They're also expected to guard their women. If you're shy you can't do these things. Work at breaking your shell. Doesn't have to happen over night. Just keep chipping away until you're free.

    Let's see...do something nice...?

To begin, how much money do you have on hand? A credit card?
