Can a girl want a break? And really mean "I love you" ?

Hi, my girlfriend and I have been together for 3 years. Shes 18 and I am 19.

She tells me that she loves me, and that she knows that were going to get married, and the thought of breaking up makes her want to cry.

However she also says that she knows shes going to want to take a break, that she needs to get it out of her system, because it seems like we found each other so young.

What do you think?

Also,
Is it normal for girls to compare you to other guys, and think about what would happen if they were with them instead?

At 18/19, you're viewing life from a different perspective. Where you were under another person's roof, abiding by certain rules and having a bit of a buffer between yourself and the world outside, you're now operating with a bit (if not a lot) more freedom. Anyone of that age will want to test the waters.

I got involved with someone at 19. Pregnancy and marriage soon followed. I'm now going through a divorce from that person. I firmly believe - aside from the problems unique to our own situation - that a lot of that had to do with the fact that I was young and had no idea what I wanted. At 24, I'm still not sure of what I want, not totally.

Be prepared for this "break" to turn out permanent. I'm sure you care for this girl, I'm sure she cares for you, but lots of things change when you're the ages you are. The person you both are now may not be the same person you'll be as little as even a year from now.
