Alright, this one threw me for a loop. I'm moving from the Boston branch of Deloitte to New York City after New Years, and something very interesting has happened in the meantime. Last week I had a "good bye" conversation with kind of a special woman in the office, who I often joked with and teased when we were together. There was a playful relationship that was never really dwelled upon because I didn't see her on a day to day basis, so it was never really on my mind. Most of my co-workers said she would give me one of those 200 watt smiles, laugh longer at my jokes and go out of her way to say hello to me. Anyway, the most recent conversation consisted of me signing out where she slipped an "I think you should just stay in Boston where it's safe. You can work with me on my projects..." as a joke. But, I don't know if it was really a joke. She insinuated on me seeing her again before I left and she contacted my best friend who worked with me daily and told him to make sure I came back once more before my move.
Personally, I think its one of these "absence makes the heart grow fonder things"...just the standard, "I'll miss your company" things. What do you guys think? What should I do?

What I'm not interested in is a long distance relationship. She's amazing in every sense of the word, but I don't think I could do it. Boston to New York is maybe a 3 hour train ride, but still...I don't know...

Hmm... I guess if you consider three hours un-doable, then you should tell her you really like her but aren't interested in maintaining anything from such a distance. I think she would appreciate your honesty. It is better than sitting around wondering if you'll come around eventually.

who knows. maybe i'll persue it. i've kind of wanted to kiss her since the day i met her. she aggrivates the hell out of me on purpose and then settles me down when i want to snap. she completes me in a way. the two of us are usually invited to parties and social events because we're entertainment. maybe single and meant to mingle isn't my thing...

Just a quick update...I called her and we went out to dinner. There was a lot of crying and kissing afterwards...but mostly kissing...

I don't think 3 hours is all that bad. My sister had a long distance relationship from Massachusetts to California. That was worse. Of course, she was an adult and is also very independent.
