22 years part two
Finish, Part 2
he traveled to the east, to his own lands searching
and found great ruin, because he’d been away so long
so fixed his land, he did in a day
and hurried off, to find his maiden once more
over the mountains in the west, find her he did not
but many battles, he fought
the trolls were out, to stop him they tried
but they fell away, from his righteous might
so he kept searching, through the great plains of the south
and try as he might, he could not see her there
many contests of strength, did he win out there
for the plains are harsh, this time of year
but not even in the seas, far to the north
sailed far he did, but nothing he found
just storms and gales, that tried to kill him
he started to wonder, he started to ask
could he find his true love, she had disappeared from earth
but search he did, not giving up hope
for ten years he traveled, for ten years he fought
for evil was against him, yet it could not stop him
he was a warrior, and bred for battle
no monster or beast, could fight him head on
all those who tried, died
for he had the strength of love, something they could not understand
and laid them low, like new cut corn
but still he could not find her, lost was he
till he happened upon, a grove of trees
forgotten had he, where these had lay
it had been so long, since he was here
and so he entered carefully, and waited till night
once again he fell, into the recess of sleep
where a dreams came, of his fair maiden again
with a start and a snort, he woke and he rose
once again she was there, in all her glory
dancing and singing, like no other before
it was just like before, with hope returning
this time however, nothing would stop them
the trees themselves, arched over to protect her
a fire nearby, grew large and warm
animals came out, to celebrate such happiness
he grew happy and joined her, in song and dance
and they spent that night, in lovers romance
she fell in love once more, her memories came back
nothing is stronger then love you know, her brothers had failed
together at last, and they kissed once more
like no other before, it was a kiss of passion
the following morning, they awoke again
and returned to their cabin, a little thing it still was
they spent two years there, alone and together
none came by, to bother them so
not a man or animal, would go by you see
it was always kept secret, from those prying eyes
but at the end of two years, those beggars came
a knock on the door, surprised them well
it was when Panteleon opened the door, did his face turn white
surprised he was, for he forgotten that deal
“for you we have come”, they said together
“your life your soul, is now ours you agreed”
he shut the door and ran to his wife, it had been twenty two years
his time was up, he had lived his time
for twenty two thousand years, mortal ones you see
and it was time to leave, time to go
“Now you must die, you thwarted our plans”
crying was she, her husband must leave
shocked was the king, to find them behind evil
the ones who ruined, his life so long
the ones who sent, evil to kill him
the ones who stole, his beautiful wife
so he grabbed his sword and shield, from the wall
and did battle against them, a struggle it was
lasting days without end, finally killed one brother
a pierce through the heart, and turned on the other
with white hot justice, he swung away
but the last brother was trickey, he didn’t fight fair
he tipped his dagger with poison, and nicked him so
while grappling in combat, love won out
and his sword landed true, killing last evil brother
Yet remember you see, the nick on the sleeve?
The poison began, and a slow death was sure
falling down he did, his breath slow and shallow
running to his side, his dear wife came crying
she held him up, for their final goodbye
her tears ran down, his tears had dried
she gave one last kiss, and when she did
he was hard and cold, life had left him again
when he was buried, she stood by his side
for the funeral was grand, the guests were many
thousands attended, but no one knew
that the lady in black, was a widowed god
she traveled the earth, a time after that
twenty two years, to be exact
with life so bland, no color or love
she had no reason, to stay at all
everything lost meaning, and life was not worth it
the trees were black, the roses gray
birds were a nuisance, mice just were pests
she needed to escape, this hallowed world
she went to the grove, where they first met
to the center she went moved, where they had first danced
she called upon her father, the god of death
she cried out to him, “give me freedom”
and there she took the curved knife of sorrow, and brought it before her
aligned with her heart, death whispered nearby
the death of a god, was something so rare
no animals were there, the trees moved away
the fire was gone, it was the end for her
she brought the wicked knife up, it fell with a gasp
slow and agonizing, she fell to the ground
it was time to rest, for good and for all
with eyes glazing over, she could see him again
beckoning and calling, to her he was
he was off in the white, bowing to her
“May I kiss your hand?”, he whispered once more
she smiled again, her lover was hers
the smile that brought happiness, then faded,
those beautiful eyes glazed over, then light dimmed
but in a unknown world, they had found again
"When I am Emperor of the world, I will crush you, your family, your friends and everything you like."
