Broken nose

Hello.
Two nights ago I recieved a hard punch directly in my nose. Few seconds after I went to the bathroom was very bloody and my nose looked like it was turned to the right slightly.
After that I went to the emergency they put something in my nose to absorb and help stopping the bleeding, also gave me a shot with k vitamin and painkillers. The next morning I went to do an x-ray and the doctor there told me that he sees no fracture and my nose should heal.
The question is, why is my nose slightly diformed to the right, looking something like a ")" if it is not broken? Is it going to get back straight and normal after the swalling goes away?

Maybe some of you guys/girls have knowledge in this stuff.

A nose is only broken if the bones are broken. Your nose is mostly cartiledge- and that can get all kinds of messed up. It will probably look pretty close to normal after the swelling goes down.

Now for the more important question: WHY did someone sock you in the nose?

This morning it looks better than last night. Hopefully in few more days it'll be totally straight. The cartilage doesn't seem to be broken in any way, only bended.

It was not a fight. I was simply trying to find a song on the computer while exchanging bad words with that guy when *BAM* I got punched in the nose. I wasn't looking for trouble it was just because that guy always considered himself tough and was totally pissing me off. Yeah I was also drunk that and his attitude made me start swearing the crap out of him. Anyway, it is not an excuse for what he had done. We are freaking classmates.

It was the main room in which the party took place. People were dancing I was sitting at the computer looking for a song to play next. He was sitting next to me. We were both intoxicated as we all had couple of drinks before and in the process.
