    Birth Control and your libido.

How did it effect you ladies? Did your libido plummet, or did it sky rocket... maybe even stayed the same? Just trying to get some input from experienced folks out there. My lady friend is going on it before long so it had me curious.

I have never heard of sex drives increasing on birth control pills. The best you can hope for is no change, although a very significant number of women experience loss of drive which can last up to a year after going off the pill.

Relax... I'll need some information first. Just the basic facts - can you show me where it hurts?

I'm already in trouble and she's not even on it yet. I was kinda hoping for it to skyrocket, but I guess I'm dreaming.

if her libido goes down she could ask her doc for a lower dose. for some people it takes a few months for everything to kinda even out. you just never know.

It was nice to know when my period was going to arrive (which was reliably on Tuesday morning), which made me less anxious about initiating sex when it was Monday night. I know that's not much, but that is one thing you'll both come to appreciate.

I'm kinda on the fence. I think on one hand, knowing she has that added protection, that she'll be more anxious about spending intimate times with me. However, if her libido drops like a rock, then the first thing won't matter.

Oh well. We'll see I guess?

    I would think less anxious.

As I see anxiety as more of a worrisome stress.

I spoke to some women today on another forum like this. I had mixed reviews. Most of them said if they experienced a decline in their libido, they tended to have more problems than just that, such as depression and whatnot. But they said when they switched to a different kind and got different results, in most cases their libidos leveled out to normal, but some claimed it increased it as well.

Plus all of them said their overall feelings about sex increased just knowing they have that added protection. So they feel more comfortable.

Hopefully that'll be my case. But we'll see.

Are you trying to get her to to go on the pill?

No. She's getting on the pill to regulate her periods. She made the appointment before I even knew she had thoughts about this. But of course, along with it regulating her periods also comes another huge benefit.

...yes, but also the possibility of a negative side effect. It WILL help with regulating her period, though, and also should help if she suffers from PMS.
