How soon would you want to hear...

...that someone you just started dating feels a physical pain sensation when people touch them, and that the sensation might or might not go away for you after you get to know them better?

Also, how would you like the news to be broken to you?

I will be quite appreciative to any insight offered.

Wow - umm... is this problem treatable? Because physical affection is a very important part of a relationship... I think you should tell pretty quickly, before the other person has a chance to fall for you. If this is not treatable, maybe you should stick with dating people who suffer your same condition. There must be support groups or something.

I wish I had better advice for you...

Thank you for your input. I really appreciate it.

It is treatable, but even with treatment it has been getting worse. Something will eventually work for it. Taking your advice, I will be upfront about it. I guess hope causes me to want to wait to see what it would feel like to be touched after a few dates and phone calls, but at least I'll be being fair and honest with my declaration.

    Thanks again, and be well.

With all due respect can you explain to me this condition? What do you mean you feel physical pain when someone touches you?.

Sometimes people with Autism feel pain when they are touched. I don't know if he has that though, probably something else.

It's called sensory defensiveness. People with it have amplified and/or misinterpreted feelings.

It feels like a deep pain similar to using a thumb to apply pressure to a pressure point.

Wow, I have never heard of that before. How long have you had this?
