Oh, and the point about men and scholarships; college sports is a business. the colleges make money if their sports teams do well; Notre Dame football for example. Mostly guys get into sports, so it is the sports that men like that dictate how popular, hence how much revenue it brings into the university etc. If men like figure skating enough, I'm sure women and gay men would be landing those huge scholarships!

We disagree over men/women in sports too.
I am not fit for arguing about sports, as I don't much care about them one way or the other. (Except I like watching men watch sports.) My point really isn't whether or not it is fair that men receive scholarships for sports, but rather pointing out that they DO, and women largely DON'T.

    shh! says:

"I suggest you go for a sex change operation. Then you can see how "lucky" we are. Be sure they include ovaries, uterus and hormones so you will "get" to experience the joys of menstruation and childbearing, too. It's a real treat!"

Nice red herring, but we are talking about women's rights vs men's rights.

"There is no draft going on for males, and I understand that there is discussion of including females should the draft be reinstated."

There may not be a draft going on at this moment, but in the future who do you think the majority of people drafted will be? Don't forget about World War II and the Vietnam War. Both of those events happened less than 60 yrs ago.

"And by the way, in divorce court, child custody is usually split 50/50 these days, unless you prove yourself to be a giant jackass."

In 2002, the percentage of children living with the mother after divorce was 23% compared to only 5% living with the father. That means for every father who has custody of his kids, almost 4 mothers have custody of hers. I don't see how this is 50/50.

"I am not a sports fan so I could be wrong, but I don't know of any women playing professional football, baseball, hockey, basketball (you know, the sports people actually watch)."

A lot of people watch racing. In fact, NASCAR is the second-most-watched professional sport in the US. Golf isn't exactly an unpopular sport either. I may not watch it, but many other people do. You also seemed to ignore the part about men not being allowed to play in women's leagues.

"If women have their own gyms, it is so they can go to exercise without having men trying to hit on them."

Oh, the trials of being an attractive woman in today's society! The horror...

Well that was my point, the sports that women engage in, aren't the ones men want to watch; and men are the majority demographic that watch sports. Haven't you seen all the beer ads with women in bikinis?

I think I can sum up this whole thread by this:

Women are luckier then men b/c they are able to stay home and play with themselves: little man in the boat, boobies etc.

    There. Done.

poor Zekk, you seem to have trouble reading what I type. We went through this before. Did you forget? I could swear I remember backing up my comments in this thread with examples. Check out post #29 in case you missed it. If you want to question my credibility, why don't you list examples of how men's rights and women's rights are equal let alone men having more rights than women?

Umm, if you re-read my posts, you will see that I favor drafts for men and women (if a draft is necessary at all). And as I said, they ARE considering making women sign up, too. It's already compulsory in Israel for women to serve, and it will likely happen here, too. Of course, I am kind of surprised a traditional-sounding guy like yourself is interested in having women (or homosexual men) in the military.

Did you take into account the number of men who abandon their children altogether? Because that would certainly account for some of the discrepancy. Also, you do not seem to distinguish between legal and physical custody. Many men with shared legal custody don't WANT physical custody of their children, preferring to stick with weekend visits for a variety of reasons, some selfish, and some heroically selfless, as in the best interest of the kids.

Nascar is for rednecks, and I think it must be a red-state phenomenon which I don't even consider to be a true sport since it doesn't appear to require much (if any) physical exertion. But as I said, I don't really care one way or the other about sports. I don't care if men want to play with women if they are similarly talented, and the same for women playing with men. (But actually, I think men are self-regulating in this area because they are afraid of looking like wimps.) I also have no problem with men-only or women -only clubs, so long as they are funded proportionately.

Yeah, well believe it or not, we don't all enjoy having to be the object of guys like this 24/7: Especially when we are sweaty and gross. And we REALLY don't want to have to smell men while they are exercising. No offense, but you all stink when you are sweaty. It seems like big, tough guys like you should be able to handle the exercise equipment on your own.

Ahh, yes, I will agree with you there. We DO get the boobies, and they are spectacular, while you guys get ugly little hairy testicles, so haha!

It's apparent to me you're entirely hopeless, you deserve no second glance. Don't try to start conflict with me, it's pathetic.

Ah yes, the old "I cannot come up with anything better to say so I will pretend I am too good to talk to you." Did I get that right? I am not trying to start a conflict with anyone. You verbally attacked me out of nowhere so I defended my comments. Don't even bother acting like I started this argument. Anyone who checks the posts in this thread will see that I am correct.

Here are two posts from you:

"Next time you try to question what I write, don't follow it up with an infantile and unfounded statement as this. It makes it apparent how little you know and just ruins any credibility you have."

"It's apparent to me you're entirely hopeless, you deserve no second glance. Don't try to start conflict with me, it's pathetic."

I haven't insulted you or questioned your credibility, which you seem to be so fond of. I never made any comments I didn't support with facts. I am certainly not as arrogant as you to say another person deserves no second glance. Good luck in life with that attitude buddy!

Misombra, care to explain how I'm being pathetic? For someone who regularly talks about eating food and humiliates others to say that about me, I'm surprised by your comment.
