Him being unsuccessful in cheating on you doesn't make it any less heinous an act. It's sort of like the crime of "attempted murder." I've never understood how attempted murder can be considered so less an offense.... you were intending to take somebody's life just as much. Why should you be rewarded simply because you failed to actually do so? Just like in this case, as far as you know he's never been able to actually cheat on you..... but it sounds like that is not due to lack of trying.
